God of Summer
Evolution in June
8x8 panel.
I am very happy with this one. I feel a little bit more confident. It was fun but challenging to rotate the skull every sitting. I’m really not quite sure why..or where these ideas pop out of, I guess when you get a vision and see the end product, it makes it seem like it’s achievable. I do believe it is hard to capture these visions though. Also, I was finally able to go smaller which was scary at first but then it got easier, I want to work this way more often for practice. I also liked making my palette a little bit limited and I loved making the many variations of white, it was a nice contrast from the last couple of paintings.
This is semi-finished, I still want to go back and address the bottom area of the candle lights reflection. Fun to work in the dark.
Progress. 2nd session from Monday, planning to continue with the other candle light and adjust the background and foregrounds areas.
My latest painting which surprisingly wasn’t too bad, the hand was hard but the apple went along smoothly. I would like to do more concept paintings and practice more of the smokey effects. I am tired.. I will try to post more often >_<.
Hanging Still life. This def took some time but it was a great learning experience. I want to continue with this theme because its really what I’m into. I still need to touch this up just a little but otherwise, it’s probably the most completed painting I’ve done. I am also working on a kitty and starting a new still life this week that’s even weirder than this one ;D
p.s the picture quality is horrible.. i’ll take a better one later.
MUNDAY. Today was hard. So..I pretty much repainted the whole eye (the one without the pupil is from today’s session). ;( It had to happen.. it needed surgery and..well I need to practice values more and drawing accurately. I feel that it got better.. it just took a while, I think doing more of this kind of painting with limited colors would be good practice. My teacher let me use this nice little brush.. from a company called Rosemary? it is divine.. and I must have one! but..I think I’m gunna need more paint >_<
The cat doodles are from my sketch book…I love pencilllllll <3 too tired to make coherent thoughts..enjoy!
This is from the past 2 weeks with Cast drawing and today I started a painting. The hardest part is getting the subtle changes in light and trying to make the gray seem warm, rich.
David’s Eye. My first cast drawing today! and ohhh so hard but good and fun to do. Had trouble seeing the shadows as one big dark mass but I know it will come with practice. It is very hard to get the subtle lights in the darker areas, and the vine is well, vine…slightly finicky. Also, it’s not finished, hopefully next time I can push it further and get it be more completed. I can’t wait to do more… and eventually paint them too..oohh a bigger challenge.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! still needs work. more time more timeeee. I like the apple glow and the pot needs more work.
2nd Session done today. This session started out slow…as in I was tired and just not feeling it today but whatever, I got something done. I feel like things always pick up when you get to the 3rd hour, things just like start to gel but.. in my case, its time to clean up! bah. Getting all the different colored reflections of the metal was kinda driving me crazy because I wish I could just capture every area simultaneously, it’s hard to focus just on one area for a while.. at least in the beginning, I just wanted that teapot covered in paint!
